History of the British Tae Kwon-Do Council

The British Tae Kwon-Do Council (B.T.C.) was formed on April 21, 1988. It acts as an administrative body for non-Olympic Tae Kwon-Do organisations in the UK. The British Tae Kwon-Do Control Board (B.T.C.B.) is responsible for all Olympic style organisations.

14 organisations are currently members of the B.T.C. with approximately 44,000 students in total (over half of which are from the T.A.G.B.). While the B.T.C.B. is not an actual member of the B.T.C. the two organisations signed a memorandum of agreement that gives the B.T.C. control over I.T.F. and independent Tae Kwon-Do organisations, while the B.T.C.B. has sole authority over the W.T.F. style.
